BIG JIM, WE HARDLY KNEW YE (BUT I THINK WE’LL GET TO KNOW AL CAPONE A LITTLE BETTER)

Episode 2 of HBO’s dazzling new series Boardwalk Empire opens in 1920 Chicago, as thousands gather for Big Jim Colosimo’s lavish funeral. If the “throw away characters” had not been in the episode, we would not know that Nucky plans to hold
a beauty pageant in The City of Atlantic (sure, sure).

Whatismore, their stop on the return to Baltimore allowed the “5th” dead body to stumble into the scene.
