Well, I had dutifully set my DVR to record my TV appearance on Tuesday, July 31, at 8:30 AM, only to find a black screen when I went to play it back. “Technical difficulties” was the official reason given by the station. If that happened to you, too, fret not. It will be repeated in all its glory on Saturday, August 4 at 5:00 PM.

Congrats on even landing the interview, Mike, though you’re such a big shot that it’s probably not that big of a deal.
I wanted to ask you a question, if I could. : )
So, Man-Slaughter was the first book of yours I bought and I was curious what kind of reactions you’ve received about the ending. I loved the book, but I got to be honest: the ending was a ball busting, kick in the nuts.
I think I was sad for like a half hour or so. (Don’t want to say more to avoid any spoilers, but have you had any others react the way I just explained, or did others see it coming? … Or maybe many of your books are this way and I’m just a newbie getting my first initiation!)
Stan–Thanks for the good words. Actually, I’ve had a lot of response similar to yours, where they didn’t see it coming, but then there were a few who did. Or rather, they knew what happened would happen (it is, after all, noir), they just weren’t sure how.
Without giving anything away, I will say I try to make all my endings different.
